We’re very excited to welcome a key new piece of infrastructure for the ecosystem: The Graph’s hosted service.

You might be familiar with oracles, which are a piece of infrastructure that allows off-chain data to be brought on-chain. The Graph is the indexing and query layer of Web3, which allows developers to read data off of a chain, easily accessing blockchain data using open source APIs called subgraphs.

The Graph’s indexing and querying technology allow on-chain data to be brought “outside of the blockchain” and become accessible for any application, platform, company, or end user.

If we want to find a few examples of how this can work, let’s just think of any webpage that has crypto tickers with their respective prices being displayed. These are prices of on-chain assets. In some cases, Web2 companies will be able to access this type of data without the use of data indexers, but it will be chunky and it will be messy. The Graph makes sure to simplify this information and make it not only accessible, but also usable.

The Graph allows anyone to create, publish, and query subgraphs, which are open APIs that allow users to make individual data queries. The beauty of this is that once a subgraph is created, others can access and utilize the same efficient and focused…
